Ewing police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a home invasion in which a 92-year-old woman was found assaulted and tied up in her basement Tuesday.

Police on Thursday said they charged Joseph Blanche of Trenton with kidnapping, robbery, assault, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, criminal restraint and endangering an injured victim.

On Tuesday, Ewing Police told NJ Advance Media that authorities went to the elderly woman's Manor Drive home at about 10:15 a.m. after being contacted by a neighbor who noticed that the door of the home was open and appeared as though it had been burglarized.

Responding officers  found the woman tied up in her basement and say she appeared to have been kicked and punched, the article stated. She was hospitalized for her injuries.

Following an investigation police determined that two men allegedly forced their way into the house sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Ewing police said Blanche was arrested and transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center and is being held on $2 million cash bail.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Muscente at 609-882-1313, Ext. 7596 or the Ewing Police Department Tip Line at 609-882-7530.
