NEWARK — An art teacher who was charged with having porn in his computer while working as a teacher last year in Keansburg was fired on Monday from his most recent position.

Following a report by NJ.com about teachers accused of sexual misconduct who were still on the job, the news site reported that Shawn Cier was let go by the board of trustees at Marion P. Thomas Charter School in Newark. The school would not disclose a reason, according to the report.

Prior to working at the charter school, Cier lost his position in the Hightstown public schools over accusations he showed porn on his cell phone to two students and made suggestive comments to students, according to the report. The criminal case that was ultimately dropped for unspecified administrative reasons.

In a statement to NJ.com issued by his lawyer, Cier denied the allegations against him in both Hightstown and Keansburg.

A message for the charter school was not immediately returned Wednesday afternoon.
