The Federal Aviation Administration says the airport was closed overnight for runway clearing, and reopened at 8:30 am Saturday.

The snowstorm paralyzed air traffic, especially in the northeast U.S. Flight-tracking website FlightAware says airlines canceled 5,368 flights due to the storm.

Travelers who have flights scheduled for Newark Liberty, LaGuardia or Kennedy airports are urged to call their individual carrier ahead of time for updated flight information.
