Morris County investigators have concluded a probe of a shooting at a realty office last fall that left two people dead.

Yet the question of why Leonardo Parera fatally shot office manager Christine King and then initiated a gunfight with police remains a mystery.

Both worked at Exit Realty Gold on Route 46 in Mountain Lakes, but computer and phone records reviewed by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office found no evidence of additional contact between them.

Investigators say Parera drove to the office on the afternoon of Oct. 14 and shot King 15 times, killing her instantly.

He then called 911 and told the operator he had just killed someone and would shoot at anyone who approached his car.

When police arrived, Parera was killed in the ensuing gunfight.
