PERTH AMBOY — A Jersey Shore man was killed on Route 440 on Wednesday after being rear-ended by a tractor trailer whose driver police said was under the influence.

The impact near the Perth Amboy-Woodbridge line caused Appio to hit another car and caused Isserovich's truck to jackknife and hit two other cars.

Drivers called 911 reporting a tractor trailer driving erratically shortly before the crash.

Carey said Appio was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, where he was pronounced dead. The three other drivers were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with minor injuries.
