While sex between a high school teacher and an adult student is inappropriate, 5 years imprisonment for the teacher is a bit much.

A West Morris Mendham High School English teacher faces this jail sentence for "improper fraternization" with three 18-year-old male students, one of whom she allegedly had sex with.

If you ask me, this punishment is too harsh- a fine or community service in addition to losing her job should suffice. Yes, she acted inappropriately. But these students were consenting adults, and the teacher wasn't found guilty of a sex crime.

There are far worse criminals in New Jersey that should be occupying a cell. Let's save space in the jail space for them.

What do you think- should the teacher get jail time? Tweet me at @nj1015 and @BillSpadea to continue the discussion.
