Man who attacked two with ax on the loose, cops say

Police are seeking a man accused of attacking two people with an ax at Jersey City's Newport Centre Mall, NJ.com reports.

According to the report, police say the 24-year-old man went to the Downtown Jersey City mall at about 9 p.m. Thursday to find his ex-girlfriend at the store where she works and attack her. When the ex-girlfriend's boss, a 30-year-old Elizabeth woman, wouldn't let him in, he attacked her, leaving her with severe head injuries, the report quotes police saying.

Another store employee, a 23-year-old Carteret man, wrestled the ax away and suffered injuries himself, the report quotes police saying. Both victims were taken to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, where the woman is in guarded condition and the man is in stable condition, the report says.

According to the report, police have not released the alleged attacker's name. Warrants and restraining orders have been issued for his arrest, it said.
