A 26-year-old man shot to death outside of an IHOP in Jersey City had gotten out of prison only about a month ago, New Jersey Advance Media reports.

The report identifies the man as Tyreek McCord of Jersey City, citing a source with knowledge of the investigation. State records show McCord was incarcerated from Dec. 5, 2014 to Oct. 13 for theft, receiving stolen property and aggravated assault. He was sentenced for all the crimes last year, but they spanned from 2011 to 2013.

Before he was shot, McCord was eating at the IHOP on Route 440 with a small group of people, and there didn't appear to be any trouble, the report quotes the source saying. He was shot after exiting the restaurant into the parking lot, the source reportedly said. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has not offered details of the incident.

McCord was charged two years ago after a March, 2013 armed robbery in Jersey City.
