Authorities say a central New Jersey firefighter died of a heart attack while laying hoses outside a house fire that also killed a man inside the home.

Woodbridge officials say 58-year-old Brue Turcotte was a longtime member of the Hopelawn Volunteer Fire Department.

Township spokesman John Hagerty said he was laying hoses outside the fire in the Menlo Park Terrace section of town Tuesday afternoon when he collapsed.

He was pronounced dead at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Officials have not released the name of the man who died in the basement of the burning home.
