JACKSON — Police are looking for a man they say used a machete to damage a house and a vehicle in the town on Saturday night.

According to police Richard McCrone, 34, of Plumsted is charged with criminal mischief, possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding a law enforcement officer, harassment, and stalking.

The charges stem from an incident on Saturday night when police say McCrone left the area before police could find him after authorities were first called. According to the police report he eventually returned to the area when he was found by police outside the victim's residence. Despite officers trying to stop him at the time McCrone fled "at a high speed," until he went onto an unpaved part of Reed Road when the pursuit was stopped.

McCrone was driving a 2007 gray Dodge Ram with a New Jersey license plate N52BUF. The police said the tailgate has likely been removed from the truck.

The police are asking anyone with information about McCrone's location, or if they see his truck to call 9-11 or the Jackson Police Department directly.
