EAST BRUNSWICK — Police have issued a warning about two separate incidents this week in which a man driving a white van approached children. But one case has been determined to be a misunderstanding.

Police spokesman Lt. Sean Goggins said a Tuesday morning incident in which the driver of a white van slowed down in the area of Dunhams Corner Road and Valley Forge Road to ask a child "what school do you go to?" before driving off turned out to be a new resident looking for his child's bus stop.

"Once advised of the situation, the suspect fully cooperated with the investigation and this incident is no longer considered suspicious," Goggins told New Jersey 101.5.

A second case in which the driver of a white van offered a child a ride home on Wednesday afternoon in the President's Streets neighborhood along Old Stage Road is still under investigation, according to Goggins.

The driver was described as an Asian male approximately 30 years old with black hair and black facial stubble.

Police said they will be increasing patrols in the areas on Thursday.

Police asked anyone with information about the incidents to call them at 732-390-6900.
