When Temple takes on Notre Dame on South Bend, Indiana on Saturday Bon Jovi fans will notice a familiar figure on the sidelines: Jesse Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, who is playing cornerback for the Fighting Irish.
"Jesse has earned his spot on the 105. He's a tough kid. The kids really like him. They respect him. They don't look at him as a rock star's son," said Kelly at the season opening press conference. "They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team. He's had a good summer. Coach Longo liked his work ethic and the way he competed.
According to his official bio on the Notre Dame website, Jesse was a New York CIty football all-star, an all-conference midfielder in lacrosse and a member of the school's Blue Key Society.
Bongiovi is not the only member of the team with a celebrity parent. Philly.comnotes that
safety Austin Collinsworth is the son of current NBC broadcaster Chris Collinsworth,
