The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has charged a Jersey City man in the murder of his 81-year-old neighbor.

Jeffery T. Harley was arrested and charged with the murder of Lucila Cardenas Viejo Friday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced in a statement Saturday.

Harley's bail was set at $2 million, cash only.

Viejo was found stabbed to death on Feb. 7 inside her apartment at 64A Lexington Avenue. An autopsy founds he died of blunt and sharp force injuries.

Harley, 50, also lives on Lexington Avenue, Suarez said.

Harley is charged with murder, felony murder during the commission of a robbery, robbery, armed robbery, felony murder during the commission of a burglary, burglary, armed burglary, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The weapon referred to in the charges is a knife, according to the news release.

Suarez commended her office's homicide unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Jersey City Police Department for their efforts in the case. She also thanked the community for its assistance.
