Trenton police have identified a 23-year-old man as the person found dying from a gunshot wound in a crashed car on a highway running through New Jersey's capital.

But they still have not pieced together what happened in the fatal shooting and accident Monday evening on northbound Route 29, which forced the closure of the highway past rush hour Tuesday.

The Times of Trenton says the shooting victim was Daquan Dowling of Trenton.

Police say Dowling's car appeared to have been involved a crash, apparently one of two connected to the incident. The homicide investigation resulted in major traffic jams around Trenton.
