Harrah’s Pool to Offer Blackjack Play

The Pool at Harrah's already doubles as a nightclub. Come tonight, it will triple as a casino.

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City will begin offering blackjack at its indoor swimming pool this evening, becoming the city's first casino to expand gambling to non-casino areas.

Katie Dougherty, a spokeswoman for Caesars Entertainment, says one blackjack table will be up and running at The Pool tonight. Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers will make the first bet as part of his 24th birthday celebration.

Atlantic City's casinos are in a race to expand gambling to areas beyond the casino floor.

The state Division of Gaming Enforcement earlier this month gave permission to the Tropicana Casino and Resort to put slot machines and electronic table games in The Quarter, its shopping and dining area across the street from the casino. But that won't be ready until Thanksgiving.
