Recently a woman from Hackensack got a new car and therefore received new license plates to go along with it. They were not specialty plates or vanity plates of any kind. Just the run of the mill random plates most of us get. But they didn't last long on her car.

K53-GUN was the plate issued to her. No fan of gun violence in America and devastated by the recent Orlando club shooting and others, she did not want a plate with the word "GUN" on her car. She complained to NJ's MVC and found there is a process for switching your unwanted plates, which she did — though she said it was more complicated than it needs to be.

It's estimated about another 2,000 plates containing the word "GUN" will be randomly issued and it remains to be seen if others will complain. Interestingly, certain words are deemed unoffensive by the MVC, such as "GUN" and "FAT" and will appear on license plates, where others such as "ASS" or "BOOB" will not be allowed even if you pay a premium for a vanity plate.

Imagine being the poor guy who has to drive around with the "FAT" plate.

I've heard some people will actually get excited to see what plate number they are randomly issued, hoping for their 'lucky number' to appear on it, or dreading the initials of their ex. Others of, course, don't give it a second thought. I can't even tell you my license plate number off the top of my head — which I know isn't good if my car should be stolen.

What about a word like "GUN" appearing on your plate? Would you have a problem wit dat as they say in the Dirty Jerz? Take a poll and let us know.
