Gay Marriage Supporters Rally in Trenton

Advocates for gay marriage in New Jersey say they'll press their case in the Legislature and the courts after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that invalidates parts of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

About 100 activists gathered outside the Statehouse in Trenton Thursday.

A lawyer for seven same-sex couples already suing the state for the right to marry on Wednesday said they would file a motion next week for a faster decision after the federal ruling.

Democratic lawmakers also say they will push to override Gov. Chris Christie's veto last year of a bill that would have recognized the nuptials. But lawmakers say any vote would likely come after the November election.
