An exploding garbage truck in Hamilton Township sent debris into four houses on Tuesday afternoon.

Hamilton Police said one of the tanks of the truck parked on Fitzrandolph Avenue at Lalor Street in the Mercer County community exploded into a fireball that melted siding breaking windows and putting holes in the side. 4 homes temporarily uninhabitable according to police.   Two drivers in the cab of the truck quickly evacuated the truck when they noticed smoke just before the explosion. The drivers nor any residents were hurt in the blast.

Witness Brian McCarthy said that firefighters were hampered by narrow, snow covered streets that delayed fire apparatus from getting to the truck. A backhoe was quickly brought in to clear away snow
