GARFIELD — A 21-year-old Jersey City man was charged Thursday with taking part in a home invasion last year in which he and two other gunmen raped a woman.

Steven Burno is the last of the three suspects to be charged in then Oct. 24, 2015, armed robbery and rape.

Authorities say he and Xavier Epps and Tymell White forced their way into the home shortly after midnight, where two adult women and a man lived, holding them at gunpoint. Authorities said they stole cash and items, and all three raped one of the women.

Epps and White were arrested that day. Jersey City cops caught up with Burno Thursday on Armstrong Avenue, arresting him on the Garfield warrants and Jersey City robbery warrants, Bergen County Acting Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Friday.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, robbery, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He was being held Friday at Hudson County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
