NEWARK — Passengers flying in and out of Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday morning will see an increased police presence, but authorities say it will only be a drill and not the result of an emergency situation.

The drill will be held in Terminal B from 4 a.m. until 11 a.m. on the arrival on the arrival level, which is the second level on the north end of the terminal. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the drill will not affect airport operations, but people at the airport may see more police on scene than usual.

According to the Port Authority, the goal of the drill is to improve mutual aid efforts between airport emergency workers and local organizations "to train together and validate response procedures." The drill will include agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
