Many media outlets reported about the case of Hepatitis A at the Shop Rite in Somerville. This was a confirmed case of a food handler and people who had had contact with this worker or the food that he handled were asked to visit their healthcare providers to rule out symptoms of this dangerous and very infectious disease. But it seems that the Hepatitis A outbreak is more widespread than many realize.

According to a new alert from New Jersey Department of Health, Hepatitis A cases have increased throughout the state and have and now have spread to all 21 NJ counties. Since this outbreak began, six people have died and the number of cases has increased to 6% by October 15 according to an article by Patch.com. Patch and the DOH also list the number of cases that have been identified in each county of New Jersey and yes, it has been found in all 21.
