In a 2 line statement Friday, the Eagles released wide receiver Desean Jackson. “After careful consideration over this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today,” was all it said. The release came after an nj.com article regarding the wide receivers alleged gang affiliations.

The LAPD is now saying it has never linked the former Eagle to gang-related activity and that he wasn’t a suspect in the homicide investigations.

You would think if Jackson were involved, there would at least be an NFL investigation. There is not, in fact today , as Jackson visits with the Washington Redskins, the team is removing his likeness from the stadium. It’s like this man who brought so much joy to the team, including the famous game ending punt return against the Giants, never existed.

Personally, I don’t think Jackson’s release had anything to do with gangs. I think it was simply a case of Head Coach Chip Kelly not wanting him on his team and there’s nothing wrong wit that. It’s the coaches prerogative. Nut if that’s the case, then why not simply come out and say it. At the NFL owners meeting in Orlando Kelly says he called Desean who later tweeted about it and even told other members of the team that he was coming back. Kelly’s quote on Jackson  "I like DeSeanDeSean did a really nice job for us," Kelly said. "But we're always going to do what's best for the organization."

If Kelly really believes cutting Desean is really what’s best for the organization, then he needs to come out and say so. THAT will send a message to his players. Don’t let this man twist in the gang related wind. For a man who’s called “Big B**Ls Chip” In this case I’m not seeing it.

How do you feel about the Eagles releasing Desean Jackson?
