A spokeswoman for Public Service Electric & Gas says the bird touched a transformer on Clinton Street near Columbus Park Wednesday morning. The incident caused about 780 customers to lose power.

Spokeswoman Kristine Snodgrass says most people got power back within about a minute, but about 50 customers were still without power by late morning.

PSE&G crews restored electricity by the afternoon.
