HOWELL — Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery of a shoe store on Monday night.

A man came into the Shoe Palace on Route 9 in Howell  around 6 p.m. demanding money from the cashier while pointing a black handgun at him. There were several employees and customers, including children, in the store at the time.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect walking to the store, located on the Lakewood border, from an adjacent commercial lot and pacing back and forth multiple times in front of the store before entering.

The employee handed over the cash and the thief ran out of the store, crossing Route 9 headed for Ford Avenue, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black male standing approximately 6 feet tall with a muscular build and wearing a black North face sweatshirt and black flannel style pants.
