BAYONNE — Police say a woman stabbed her husband to death just before Thanksgiving Day.

At about midnight on Thursday, police were dispatched to a Kennedy Boulevard home in Bayonne, where they found Stanley Mazurczyk, unresponsive and with multiple stab wounds to his upper body, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Mazurczyk was transported to Bayonne Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:35 p.m. The Medical Examiner determined he had died of the stab wounds, the prosecutor's office said.

His wife, Margaret Mazurczyk, 50, was arrested by Hudson County Prosecutor's Office detectives and officers of the Bayonne Police Department and charged with murder, the prosecutor's office said.

The prosecutor's office didn't say what led authorities to believe Margaret Mazurczyk had committed the alleged murder, or what circumstances they believe led up to it.

She was also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Her bail was set at $500,000, cash only.

The prosecutor's office said it is asking anyone with information to call 201-915-1345 or leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office website. All information will be kept confidential.

The death was one of several homicides, accidental deaths and shootings in the state over the Thanksgiving holiday.
