Atlantic City police say two cousins were shot and wounded during an armed robbery on a city street.

Sgt. Monica McMenamin tells The Press of Atlantic City that police received numerous reports of shots fired around 10:35 p.m. Saturday and responding officers found an 18-year-old man who had been shot in the thigh.

The man thought his 19-year-old male cousin had also been shot, and that man was found a short time later a few blocks away. Both men were taken to a hospital and the 19-year-old, who was shot in the leg, underwent surgery.

Authorities say a third man who was with the cousins wasn't injured. The gunman fled with the 19-year-old's sneakers and remained at large Sunday.

Authorities say the two wounded men were expected to recover.
