Joseph Bariso entered state Superior Court in Hackensack Tuesday in shackles and a prison jumpsuit. The judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. The 28-year-old Bariso was not yet represented by an attorney.

He's being held on $2 million bail.

Bariso faces several charges including attempted murder. Bergen County prosecutors say he shot Olga Bariso as she slept on a couch in their home in Lodi. It's not clear what sparked the shooting. Joseph Bariso was picked up several hours later in Rutherford, but the weapon has not been recovered.

The Record reports Olga Bariso remains in critical condition Tuesday.
