It was a deadly Friday in New Jersey's largest city.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says three people were killed in separate incidents during a 13-hour stretch.

The first was 33-year-old Nakisha Burks. She was discovered around 10 a.m. by construction workers inspecting a building for demolition. The cause of death was unknown but the case is being treated as a homicide.

About two hours later a man identified as 26-year-old Joaquin Moton of East Orange was found dead in the street from a gunshot wound.

The third victim, 47-year-old Dwayne Brown of Irvington, was hot about three miles away at approximately 11 p.m. and died at University Hospital.

Authorities say the deaths are not related.
