Two men have been arrested for allegedly having over $70,000 worth of stolen spices in their possession.

The investigation began when a trailer out of Edison and truck in Linden were reported stolen on Feb. 16, according to New Jersey State Police. A joint investigation between the State Police's Interstate Theft North Unit and the Linden Police Department discovered that the truck made a stop at a storage unit in Cliffwood, police said.

Police said Luis Rivera, 50, of Jersey City and Samir Helou, 56, of Brooklyn were arrested at the storage facility after a storage they had access to was found with 75,456 units of Shan brand spice inside.

River was charged with receiving stolen property and held in lieu of $50,000 bail while Helou was also charged with possession of fireworks and held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Both were taken to the Monmouth County Jail.
