At Rutgers University in New Jersey, spring break began on March 10 and will end on March 18. Some students go to Florida or Cancun to soak up the sun and too many adult beverages. Not so for a group Rutgers-Camden students. They will be spending Thursday, March 15th of their spring break in Trenton supported by students from all the other Rutgers campuses.

I work in Trenton every Monday through Friday. Trenton is not a vacation hot spot. It might actually be the anti-vacation destination.

Governor Chris Christie backs a proposal to allow Rowan University to take over Rutgers-Camden. Although current Rutgers-Camden students have been promised that they will graduate with Rutgers degrees, the students insist this promise ignores their actual concerns. They say they’re committed to preserving convenient access to a high quality Rutgers education and educational choice forever for everyone in southern New Jersey.

After Training Days with lobbyists on the Rutgers-Camden campus to prepare, the students will bus to Trenton for meetings with legislators on Thursday morning. They will gather outside the Statehouse around 10:30am and then shuttle from the State Assembly Gallery to talk with various legislators.
