Every Autumn, mums take over many front porches across the Garden State. Normally you start to see them at the beginning of October usually up until around the end of November. But once we start to put up the holiday decorations, what should you do with the mums that are starting to die out in front of your house?

This is something we're deciding right now at my home with our potted mums. As is with all decisions involving plants, the kids must be a part of this (they'll get mad at me if I don't include them). We also like to experiment and learn together, so we'll definitely be trying out some of the options that I share with you below. So as you prepare your holiday decorations, let's come up with a solution for those colorful flowers that have been on all of our front steps ever since the cooler air started to arrive across the great Garden State.
