What Should Happen to this Middle Township Man Who Shot a Dog 70 Times With a BB Gun? [POLL]

I'm no animal rights wacko, but what happened in Middle Township on September 19th is truly disturbing. The Middle Township Police Department had to respond to the Animal Welfare Society in Dias Creek on a report that a dog have been shot with BBs. This was while the dog was locked in a cage and couldn't get away. The dog was taken to a vet and x-rays showed the dog had been shot about 70 times.

They made an arrest yesterday. Nicholas F. Spurrier, 29 years old, of Dias Creek. He was charged with animal cruelty and criminal mischief. You would expect if anyone were lacking the maturity and morality to do something so mean it would be a teenager who hadn't had enough years and guidance to develop any sense of compassion. But 29 years old? He was issued a summons and released.
