In a press release Tuesday, authorities said that on Monday at 12:39 a.m., Franklin Township police responded to a 911 call on Ambrose Street, stating that an individual had been shot.

"Several patrol units arrived on scene but were unable to locate a victim. The patrol units did, however, discover a small pool of blood in the roadway," a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office states. "As officers were establishing a perimeter around the crime scene, they were notified by a local area hospital that a gunshot victim, who had just arrived, was being treated."

Authorities say the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and hand, but the injuries "do not appear to be life-threatening." Police did not release the name of the suspect.

The shooting remains under investigation and police are asking that anyone with any information contact the Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-5533 or the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100.
