Route 78 express reopens near Parkway following fatal accident

The westbound express lanes of Route 78 near the Garden State Parkway were closed for nearly 3 hours on Monday afternoon for the investigation of a fatal accident.

New Jersey State Police say two cars were involved in the crash in Hillside near exit No. 50 for Vaux Hall Road. A multi-mile delay back to Newark LIberty International  Airport developed with a rubbernecking delay in the local lanes.

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams suggested using Route 22 as an alternate route. although that road became slow with alternative traffic as well.

The highway reopened at about 2 p.m. New Jersey 101.5 is seeking more information about the crash and anyone involved.
