Mitt Romney says he'd rather use his own words when it comes to Iran and Israel.

Previewing a speech the Republican presidential candidate will be giving shortly in Jerusalem, adviser Dan Senor told reporters that Romney would "respect" an Israeli decision to take unilateral military action to prevent Tehran from gaining nuclear capability. And he said Romney is careful to note that he believes preventing nuclear "capability," not just a nuclear weapon, is critical.

Later, in a written statement, Senor said Romney "believes we should employ any and all measures to dissuade the Iranian regime from its nuclear course" and that Romney hopes diplomatic and economic measures will do so.

Romney told CBS' "Face the Nation" he doesn't want to be creating new foreign policy for his country while on foreign soil.

He says he respects "the right of Israel to defend itself" and that the U.S. will "stand with Israel."

Romney has reversed course and will let reporters cover his remarks to donors at a fundraiser in Israel.

Romney's campaign says the typical group of reporters will be allowed to cover a high-dollar fundraiser at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on Monday morning.

The campaign had said on Saturday that it planned to prevent the typical coverage of a fundraising event in a public space.

One of those expected to attend is Sheldon Adelson, the American casino mogul who's pledged to spend more than $100 million to defeat Democratic President Barack Obama.

Donors at the event were asked to contribute $50,000 or to raise $100,000. Romney advisers say the event is expected to raise more than $1 million.
