Republican Mitt Romney's campaign is renewing its criticism of President Barack Obama's changes to welfare.

Romney's campaign is launching a new television advertisement accusing Obama of "gutting welfare reform." The ad says Romney would "put work back in welfare."

Romney says Obama lifted a provision that required people receiving welfare to work. The White House says Romney's assertions are false.

Obama moved last month to allow states to seek waivers from some welfare rules if they show that doing so results in better outcomes. Conservatives fear the waivers will lead to an end of the work requirement.

The Romney campaign did not say which states the ad would run in.

Romney, Ryan set to face NH voters

Romney & running mate Paul  Ryan are likely to get a lot of questions about their plans for Medicare when they hold a town hall in New Hampshire today.

Romney and Ryan will try to reassure voters that their proposal to offer a private alternative to Medicare would not affect anyone currently over age 55.

President Barack Obama spent Saturday in the swing state, casting doubts on what the GOP ticket would do for older voters. He suggested Romney would gut the popular program.

Romney's advisers say Obama is worse for seniors because he used Medicare funds to pay for his health care overhaul. Obama says his health care plan strengthens the program in the long term.
