The Rational Group says it wants to try to save its deal to purchase The Atlantic Club. The casino said Wednesday the purchase deal was dead, but declined to say why.

A spokesman for The Rational Group says it expected the closing deadline to be extended, adding it "remains entirely committed to resolving this situation and to our investment in New Jersey."

Atlantic Club officials did not respond to requests for comment Thursday night.

No purchase price had been announced for the casino.

The deal would give PokerStars an entrance into the lucrative online gambling market in the U.S.
