No injuries when water taxi runs aground
POINT PLEASANT (AP) — No injuries were reported when a water taxi carrying 22 people ran aground over a sandbar in the Manasquan River.
But authorities say it's not yet clear what caused the accident, which occurred early Sunday.
Crews from Coast Guard Station Manasquan and the Brick Township Fire Department responded to the scene and got the stranded passengers safely to shore. The Point Pleasant Borough of Emergency Management reports the passengers were treated at a staging area at the Crystal Point Yacht Club where 1 person was sent to a hospital for further treatment.
A tow boat was eventually was able to move the water taxi off the sandbar.
Crews from Units from Point Boro EMS, Brick Police EMS and Lakewood EMS responded to the scene along with Point Pleasant Borough Police, Brick Township Police and Brielle Police
