State education officials say ten districts from across New Jersey will take part in the second year of a teacher evaluation pilot program, while 14 more were chosen for the first year of the principal evaluation pilot program.

The Department of Education announced Tuesday that 70 districts overall applied to participate in the programs during the 2012-2013 school year.

The districts in the teacher evaluation program will share in $1 million that being handed out in the first round of grant funding, while $400,000 overall will be available to those districts in the principal evaluation program.

Educators in the participating districts will work collaboratively with the education department to develop new educator evaluation systems for rollout across the state.
