NJ prison guard charged with raping female inmate

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A 32-year-old corrections officer has been suspended after being charged with sexually assaulting an inmate at the state women's prison.

Brian Y. Ambroise, of Union Township in Union County, was arrested Oct. 6 on second-degree official misconduct and sexual assault charges, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office did not release other details about the alleged sexual assault at the Edna Mahon Correctional Facility for Women.

Ambroise was held at Somerset County Jail in Somerville with bail set at $50,000.

Ambroise has more than three years of experience and earns more than $48,000 a year, state records show.
