An oil spill in New Jersey is causing quite a stink in Delaware.

Emergency management officials say the New Castle County 911 center has received numerous calls complaining of a petroleum odor. As reported Friday morning by WDEL, the source is a crude oil tank that began leaking Thursday at PBF Energy's Paulsboro Refining Co. Six million gallons spilled from the 12 million gallon tank, but a company spokesman says the spill is contained onsite and didn't reach the Delaware River.

Delaware Emergency Management Agency officials say strong easterly winds carried vapors as far as northeastern Maryland and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Officials are asking people not to call 911 about a petroleum odor unless they believe there's an emergency.
