EAST RUTHERFORD — A 27-year-old man killed himself by jumping out of a moving vehicle on Route 3 in East Rutherford, police said Tuesday.

According to NJ Advance Media, Jorge Torres jumped out of the car at about 5:05 a.m. near the exit for Route 120. East Rutherford Police Chief Larry Minda told NJ Advance Media that the North Arlington man was unresponsive when officers arrived and CPR was unsuccessful.

Police shut down a portion of the roadway for nearly four hours following the incident, which the article states is still under investigation. The 24-year-old driver of the vehicle has not been charged, the chief said in the article.
