Gov. Chris Christie and other state officials announced the new program Tuesday during an appearance on Burlington County College's Mount Laurel campus.

The Governor's Industry Vocations Scholarship for Women and Minorities will give eligible adult residents up to $2,000 per year for the cost of enrollment in nondegree certificate programs in more than two dozen fields.

The first of the scholarships will be available later this year.
