Authorities announced Friday that 17-year-old Stanley Francois succumbed to his injuries on Oct. 10.

He was a junior at Barringer High School in Newark.

Police say Francois was stabbed Oct. 3 during an altercation with an unnamed juvenile in the vicinity of the school.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray says Francois' death was classified as a homicide on Thursday, following the release of autopsy results.

Police have not released the name of the juvenile, who has been charged with murder.

The juvenile is currently being held in the Essex County Youth House.
