Officials in Bucks County said the 30-year-old Washington, D.C. man was tubing along the river with a group of other people Saturday in Tinicum Township when he went into the water. WCAU TV reports the man was 15 feet from shore when he slipped out of his tube. It's not known if he was wearing a life jacket.

Fire and police tell the television station this is a recovery operation now.

The group was tubing on its own and were not customers of Bucks Country River Country. That company's owner called 911 after one of his boats came across the missing man's friend.

Rescue divers say the water is dirty because of recent rainfall that has brought up the level of the water.

The Bucks County Courier Times says firefighters and rescue personnel from both sides of the river launched rescue boats and put divers in the water, and a New Jersey state helicopter also helped in the search.
