Police are crediting the public with helping locate a man who went missing in Egg Harbor River in the Township of Hamilton Saturday night.

The 36-year-old Franklinville man was found injured at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a message police posted online.

The Police Department recieved a call at 1:46 a.m. that a man had been missing since about 6 p.m. Saturday. He had been last seen while on a tubing trip in the upper section of the river in the Township of Hamilton in Atlantic County.

"Thanks to the efforts of all involved throughout the late night and early morning, a potentially tragic situation ended well," police said in the statement.

The police department broadcast information to local residents, which led to two sighting of the individual, according to the statement.

"A joint effort consisting of the Township of Hamilton Dive Team, the Atlantic County Park Ranger service and the management of Palace Outfitters, was instrumental in assisting the police department in searching for the 36 year old Franklinville resident along the waterway and surrounding area," the Police statement said.

The search team and an off-duty Hamilton police officer located the man, who was injured but refused medical treatment, the statement said.
