Mega Millions Winner Identified in Tinton Falls

Giuseppe "Joe" Garofalo of Tinton Falls has been announced as the New Jersey winner of the $198 million Mega Millions jackpot on May 17.

Garofalo claimed his prize Thursday morning at Lottery Headquarters; he will share the jackpot with another winner in Virginia, meaning he'll receive $73,279,052 before taxes.

Garofalo purchased $10 worth of tickets for the drawing at Kwik Farms in Tinton Falls. The winning combination was a quick pick.

According to New Jersey Lottery, Garofalo always thought he'd hit big someday.

"Congratulations to the winner of this incredible jackpot," said New Jersey Lottery's Carole Hedinger. "Truly an exciting day all around!"
