Police are searching for a male suspect in connection with a Thursday night shooting in Franklinville, NJ.

The suspect, Robert A. Bell, of Williamstown fled the shooting scene as a passenger in a car. The car was stopped a short distance away by police, but Bell then fled from the car on foot into a wooded area. The suspect was not apprehended despite an intensive search, Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office says.

The victim and Bell were allegedly fighting over a woman until others separated them, witnesses tell authorities.  The victim sustained a single gunshot wound in the leg as he walked towards his residence.

Bell is 38 years old, is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts and brown Timberland boots.  The suspect has a tattoo on his right arm and left forearm.  The suspect may still have the handgun used in the shooting.
