Now that it's officially winter, New Jersey has plenty of seasonal fun to enjoy with family and friends. The newest outdoor ice rink in NJ is in Monmouth County, a few “glides” away from the ocean!

Atlantic County 

Atlantic City has a Flyers Skate Zone indoor ice facility for hockey and skating. For public skating sessions, admission is $8 and skate rentals are $3. Check the online schedule for open skating times.


Bergen County

Ice House of New Jersey in Hackensack offers public skating sessions on weekends. Friday nights are "Skate Jam" with music, while there's afternoon hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission: $10/Skate Jam Admission: $20/Skate Rental $5


Burlington County

The Igloo at Mt. Laurel is an indoor ice facility with two rinks, and public skating for most of the year. The hours generally are on the weekends, with some weekday afternoon sessions. Check the schedule online. Admission rates: adult $8/Children 5 & under $4/Seniors $6/Skate Rental: $2


Camden County

Winterfest Ice Skating at Cooper River is offered at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken. The Winterfest rink is open weekends through Valentine’s Day. In addition to open skating sessions, Winterfest hosts ice skating shows by world-class figure skaters through the end of December. Skating lessons are also available. Rates: Adults $6 / Children (5-12) $4 / Children (4 & under) Free / Skate Rental $4 / Skate Buddy (skating assistance device) Free / Skate Sharpening $5

Flyers Skate Zone has two indoor ice rink locations in Camden County, in Pennsauken and Voorhees. For open skating sessions at both, admission is $8 and skate rental skates are $3. Check their online schedules for open skating times- in Pennsauken, and in Voorhees.


Essex County 

Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair offers an ice rink, birthday party room, concessions and more. Admission $6/Skate Rental $4


Hudson County

Newport Skates is an outdoor skating rink on the Jersey City waterfront. It's opened from November through March (weather permitting). also offers group and individual skating lessons, party packages and rink rentals.
Rates: Adult & Children $7 / Skate rental $6 (Half price for Newport residents with ID)

Charlie Heger Ice Rink in Jersey City is a covered outdoor skating rink at Pershing Field Park. The skating season runs from November through mid-March. Rates: Adult & Children $4 / Seniors $1 / Skate Sharpening $9

Secaucus Ice Rink at Buchmuller Park in the Meadowlands is an outdoor skating rink, also used by hockey leagues and available for rentals. It offers open skating sessions, Thursday through Sunday from October to April (weather permitting). Rates: Adult & Children $3 /Skate Rental $2


Hunterdon County 

Flemington Ice Arena is very hockey intensive but does offers some public skate times.


Mercer County

Mercer County Ice Skating Center is a sheltered outdoor rink at Mercer County Park in West Windsor. It's open to the public seven days a week, November through March. Also available for group and private skating lessons and parties, plus ice time for local hockey teams. Rates: Adults $8 / Children (11 & Under) $6 / Seniors (62 & Over) $6 / Military $6/Skate Rental $4 / Skate Sharpening $8

Ice Land in Hamilton Township is an indoor ice rink facility that offers regular public ice skating. There's sessions on Friday nights, two sessions on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. Check the website for hours. Admission Rates: Adults $9/Youth (under 12) $7/Seniors $7/Skates rental: $3


Middlesex County

Roosevelt Park Family Ice Skating Rink in Edison at Roosevelt Park is an outdoor ice skating rink. It offers public skating, as well birthday parties, rentals and skating lessons. The rink is open for ice skating November through April. Children under 7 must wear a helmet. Rates: Adult $6 /Children (17 & Under) $5 /Seniors $5/Skate Rental $5/Skate Sharpening $8 /Helmets $10

Old Bridge Ice Arena is at the township's municipal complex.There's open skating hours that vary depending on day, with sessions every Friday through Sunday. Admission Rates: adult $10/ student (ages 14-17) $8/child (13 & under) $6 (It's cheaper for Old Bridge residents who show ID)

Proskate Ice Arena is in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. They offer Friday DJ Skate nights, plus open skate sessions throughout the week. Check the online schedule.  


Monmouth County

Pier Village in Long Branch has “Ice At The Pier,” open weekends through Presidents' Day. The rink is available for birthday parties and private event rentals. There’s also dining party packages with some Pier Village restaurants. Admission & skate rentals are available for purchase online or in-person.

Jersey Shore Arena in Wall Township is an indoor facility with three ice rinks. There's a window for open skating daily, plus lots of hockey and party activities. DJ Skating is offered through the winner on Friday and Saturday nights. Check the schedule before heading out.

Howell Ice Arena in Farmingdale offers indoor public skating sessions and birthday party rentals. Admission Rate: adults $8/seniors & children under 5: $6/Skate Rentals: $4/Ice Walker Rental (for kids): $5

Red Bank Armory ice Complex offers windows of public skating. Check the schedule, as it varies around the holidays. There's also hockey leagues and clinics and skating lessons, plus party rentals.  Admission rates:adults $9/children (12 and under) $8/skate rentals: $4


Morris County 

Mennen Ice Arena in Morris Township offers public skating every day. There are daily morning sessions, afternoon hours on weekdays and weekends, and Friday evening sessions. Weekday General Admission: $6/Weekend and Evenings: $8/Skate Rental: $4

Aspen Ice Arena in Randolph offers public skating sessions, plus lots of skate lessons, hockey clinics and birthday party rentals. Admission rates: Adults $10/Children (8 and under) $9/Friday Night DJ Skate admission: $12/Skate Rental $5/Ice Walker rental (for kids) $4


Ocean County 

Winding River Skating Center in Toms River has indoor and outdoor rinks. The facility at 1211 Whitesville Road has a varied schedule open to public skating. Admission rates: Adult $7/Youth 12 and under $6/Senior $6 (each is a dollar cheaper for Toms River residents with ID) Skate Rental: $4


Passaic County 

Floyd Hall Arena is an ice rink on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls. (just steps from Yogi Berra Stadium). The arena offers public skating, hockey leagues for men, women and kids, plus group and birthday rentals. Admission rates for public skate: adults $9/children $7/DJ Skate admission: $10/Skate rental: $4


Somerset County

Bridgewater Sports Arena in Bridgewater offers ice skating, plus laser tag, an arcade and a soft play area that can be booked for parties. Open skating varies, but there's generally morning sessions on weekdays and afternoon hours on weekends. Check the website for details. Admission Rates: Adults $7/Youth (12 and younger) $6/Senior Citizens $5/Skate rentals: $3

Protec Ponds Ice Skating Center in Somerset offers public skate sessions, group ice skating lessons, in-house and travel ice hockey leagues, figure skating programs, ice hockey clinics and camps, hockey tournaments, skating birthday parties and more for youth and adults. Rates: Adult $7/ Child $6/Senior $6/Military Admission $5.Skate Rental: $4 (There's also a family 4-pack rate that includes admission, rentals, pizza and drinks.)


Union County

Union Sports Arena is in Union Township and offers year-round ice skating and sports-oriented fun. Aside from public skate sessions, there's a soccer center also available for, football and baseball birthday parties. Public skate admission (all sessions): $9 /Skate Rental:  $5/10 Session Pass: $80

For next season: Warinanco Park Ice Skating Center in Roselle is undergoing a massive overhaul. There’s no open skating during the 2016-2017 skating season. Only high school hockey programs are using the ice this winter. Renovations will double the overall complex space and transform it into a year-round venue for skating and other activities.
