Judi: Why parents need to teach their kids to ‘be,’ not to ‘feel’
You may have heard Dennis and I discussing on-air a story about a woman who claims she was accosted by a stranger in a park about her 3-year-old son wearing a tutu. The woman proceeded to post a picture on Facebook of her son, whose name is Roo.
She stated that Roo wearing a tutu makes him "feel" brave and beautiful. I believe that it's our job as parents to teach kids how to "be" a certain way, not "feel" a certain way.
Here's an example. If your kid says jumping off of a building would make him "feel" strong and brave, would you let him?
Didn't think so.
